INTRODUCTION

• Location: In Occidental Australia 517 km in the North of Perth by the main road N°1, 30 km from the Coasts of the Indian Ocean, 42 km of the city from NORTHAMPTON, 95 km from the city GERALDTON and 66 km from sea resort KALBARRI.

• Coordinates : Among the 114 ° 25 ' E and the 114 ° 32 ' E Among the 28 ° 01 ' S and the 28 ° 09 ' S

• Surface: 75 square kilometres. The territory of the Principality is formed with the existing territory on April 21, 1970 and with quite other territory susceptible to be acquired after May 12, 1997.

THE POPULATION

HUTT RIVER national's (about 20.000 persons) include the inhabitants living in Principality and the citizens living abroad.

On the territory, the population is mainly constituted by the aboriginal common people Nandha whom Prince Leonard undertook to assure cultural protection. Nandhas have given to to the Prince Leonard the title of " Defender of Legends " and recognize him as sovereign.

Naturalization rule of " HUTT RIVER PRINCIPALITY" is governed by a Law , the " HUTT RIVER Nationality Act " of November 23, 1997, who recognizes the right for the double Nationality.

The nationality of the Principality of HUTT RIVER can be acquired on request with a complete file accompanied with documents certified to the competent territorial  Consular Mission . The acceptance is subordinate to the acceptance of the Prince Leonard.

The citizenship of HUTT RIVER PRINCIPALITY is realized by a Certificate of Naturalization and by a passport which remains the property of the State. Abroad, the national must be registered with the most closest Consulate.

THE CURRENCY 

As any independent state, the Principality of HUTT RIVER beats his own currency which is the DOLLAR HUTT RIVER to parity with the Australian dollar.

STAMPS

Principality emits since 1974, its own stamps, very appreciated by the collectors, and an agreement was concluded with Australia Post for the sending of the mail.

THE ARMY : " Royal Hutt River Defence Forces " (R.H.R.D.F.)

Citizen de Hutt River Principality being able to prove a military experience and avid to contribute to the development of the Principality has the possibility of joining the Forces of Defence in the "Royal Hutt River Defence Forces"
(RHRDF) including:

• The Royal Hutt River Army (RHRA), 

• The Royal Hutt River Navy (RHRN) and,

• The Royal Hutt River Air Force (RHRAF)

The Commander-in-chief of the "Royal Hutt River Defence Forces"  is the Prince Leonard sovereign of the Principality.

Abroad, the Officers of the "Royal Hutt River Defence Forces" (RHRDF) , every volunteer, have exclusively a ceremonial and charitable role:

• They give evidence peacefully and symbolically of Hutt River's sovereign power,

• They participate actively in charities and humanitarian actions organized by the Representations of the Principality.

The status of the RHRDF is governed by a law adopted end of 1998. Every Weapon possesses besides its particular Regulations.

Units of the RHRDF are constituted or in process of constitution in different country: the United States, France, United Kingdom, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium, etc.

The Staff of the "Royal Hutt River Defence Forces" publishes regularly the specialized English-speaking bulletin DF News. 

TOURISM

With his green valleys and the fertile plains, current territory of HUTT RIVER PRINCIPALITY and its friendly neighbourhood is susceptible to know certain tourist development. Projects are ready for the creation of an artificial lake and for the extension of the capacity of hotel residence.

"Excentré" with regard to the big Australian metropolises, HUTT RIVER PRINCIPALITY is nevertheless situated immediately near the only north south road axis of the west of the continent which allows an easy access

TAXES

The Principality of HUTT-RIVER endowed of a system of unique income tax based on the levy of the financial transactions of personal account or company taking up residence in the Principality and for all accounts in the banks in the world.
Rate is today fixed to 0, 5 % on debits and credits, the capital of departure is not taxed as well as sub accounts. (See the Tax Act)
There is no value-added tax [Goods and services tax (GST)], however, a local tax is foreseen for the residents at the level of the municipality.
For the incomes of the subjects of the PRINCE LEONARD which work in the Commonwealth of Australia they are taxed as not resident in the Commonwealth of Australia. (Cf.: Australian Taxation 0ffice)
